About Solar Thermal Energy
Solar thermal energy utilizes solar energy to produce low-cost, eco-friendly thermal energy. The energy can be used to boil water or other fluids, and also power solar cooling systems. Solar thermal technology differs from solar PV, which generates electricity rather than heat. Solar thermal energy generation system captures solar rays through optical concentration. Optical concentration is the arrangement of mirrors or lenses in such a way that it generates high temperature by concentrating sunlight to a small area. This high temperature is used to turn water into steam that is used to rotate turbines which generate electricity.
TechNavio's analysts forecast the Solar Thermal market in Europe to grow at a CAGR of 18.2 percent over the period 2013-2018.
