Increasing data consumption is forcing operators and equipment manufacturers to new wireless infrastructure architectures that rely on numerous lower power cells to augment existing macrocell-based networks. This trend will result in a yearly growth rate of nearly 24 percent in unit shipments of base station radio equipment in terms of sectors, to an estimated 6.6 million sectors shipping in 2016. At the same time, the total revenue generated from sales of RF amplifier devices will grow with a CAAGR of 5 percent to reach nearly $955 million in 2016.
