UK Handset Vendor Marketshare by Operator: Q2 2012

The UK handset market declined -2% year-on-year, slowing down from the previous quarter’s 8% growth, as the strength of Samsung was insufficient to compensate for a pre-iPhone launch dip by Apple and continued market weakness, although Sony was a notable exception with a strong UK performance this quarter. Macroeconomic factors also played a part in the dip, with household budgets squeezed by recession and fiscal tightening. This report tracks handset vendor shipments and market share at the four major UK operators -- O2, Vodafone, Everything Everywhere and Three -- from Q1 2009 to Q2 2012. The report is an important tool for measuring the health of individual handset brands at the operator level.
