Description
There is a strong tradition of baby meals usage in Hungary, largely due to the activities of one manufacturer, Kecskemeti Konzervgyar (owned by Hipp since 1999). Hipp leads the market, with Univer, now the brand of the original company, ranking second. Baby meals sales stood at 3,868 tonnes in 2011 (43.9kg per baby) but have only expanded by 5.2% volume terms since 2005, mainly as a result of the steep contraction in the economy, especially in 2009 but continuing since, this putting pressure on household budgets.
