Description
With 1.8 million babies born, Russia is the largest baby food market in Eastern Europe in absolute terms, with retail sales of US$ 2,107 million in 2011. Volumes, at 155,650 tonnes, are virtually double their level 6 years ago. ERC forecasts suggest further strong growth, lifting the market by 32% by 2017, despite an expected decline in the number of births. Significantly, value sales are set to increase faster than volume; in real terms growth of 44.7% is forecast.
