Global Mobile Handset Data Traffic Forecast (2001 - 2018)

Strong growth in smartphone adoption and mobile data penetration during 2014 will fuel a more than 60% rise in global data traffic from mobile handsets to 17.5 Exabytes. The consumption of consumer media and messaging services on handsets, particularly video and web browsing, games and applications will continue to drive annual handset data traffic from 10.7 Exabytes in 2013 to almost 43 Exabytes by 2018. During this period the global average data consumption per unique mobile user per month will triple from just over 200 MB to over 650 MB.
