Baseband Market Share Tracker Q3 2014: LTE Baseband Revenue Crosses 50 Percent Mark

The global cellular baseband processor market registered a 5 percent growth year-on-year to reach $5.5 billion in Q3 2014. LTE continues to be the bright spot and, for the first time, revenue from LTE basebands accounted for over 50 percent of total baseband revenues in Q3 2014. Qualcomm maintained its baseband leadership with 64 percent revenue share, followed by MediaTek and Spreadtrum. This report tracks the cellular baseband unit shipments, ASPs and revenues of 21 baseband chip vendors across six air interface technologies on a quarterly basis and includes provisional data up to Q4 2014.
