China’s turpentine mainly refers to gum turpentine owing to the small amount of crude sulphate turpentine and wood turpentine. China has abundant pine resources, which ensures ample supply of oleoresin and then gum rosin & gum turpentine. The domestic output of turpentine is mainly driven by the tapping of oleoresin and then the production and market situation of gum rosin.

Nowadays, in China gum turpentine is mainly consumed to produce terpene resins, synthetic camphor, terpineol, etc. Along with the fast development of China’s gum turpentine derivatives, the overseas enterprises tend to purchase Chinese-made gum turpentine derivatives (such as synthetic camphor, terpineol, synthetic borneol, etc.) rather than gum turpentine.

Due to the unstable price, terpene resins has faced strong competitiveness from petroleum resins, which caused the changeable production of terpene resins and then changeable demand for gum turpentine in China. With the fast development of synthetic spices, more and more gum turpentine has been or will be synthesized to essence & flavor in China.

This report analyzes the current and potential market for turpentine in China, and it includes the following as part of its market coverage:

- Production of gum turpentine and crude sulphate turpentine in the past few years in China
- Price changes and key factors
- Detailed analysis of export & import of Chinese gum turpentine in 2009~H1 2012
- Consumption structure of turpentine in 2005, 2006, 2009 and 2011
- Key drivers and restraints
- Future forecast on the production, export and consumption of Chinese gum turpentine in the next 5~10 years
