Baseband Processor Forecast: LTE Baseband Revenue to Hit $10 Billion in 2017

The global cellular baseband processor market will grow 17.6 percent in dollar terms from 2011 to 2011, driven primarily by the rapid growth of UMTS and LTE. Unit shipments will grow at a more modest 8 percent, reflecting a slower than usual growth in handset shipments in 2012. Over the next five years, growth of LTE and the adoption of more baseband-integrated applications processors will help push the total baseband market to an estimated $23 billion in 2017.
