The roster of participants in the global market for smart home systems and services continues to grow in 2013 with early participants, e.g. ADT, Alarm.com, Verizon and a number of cable MSOs lead by Comcast, COX and Time Warner Communications in the US being joined by retailer Lowes and most recently AT&T among others. Strategy Analytics estimates that there are between 1.1 and 1.3 million homes in the US with either interactive security systems or remote monitoring and control systems (not just IP cameras). In Europe, British Gas, GDF Suez, Gigaset, SFR and Swisscom are among the early participants with others, such as Deutsche Telekom and Telefonica poised to launch systems commercially. These firms are partnering with a host of hardware vendors, retailers and technology enablers as they seek their share of the market for smart home systems and services which will reach nearly $72 billion by 2017 globally. This database presents Strategy Analytics' compilation of facts and figures more than 100 industry participants. It will be updated again later in 2013 for firms currently profiled as well as expanded to cover additional participants.
